I've got finals in two weeks. I've got two portfolios of my written work to submit. I've got one term paper to finish. But after that, I'm home free. Go me. I noticed that I had not submitted a journal entry to this page in a long time and I thought that this might be a good opportunity to answer a question that seems to follow me around wherever I go: when will RRDC be updated and/or finished? My answer: I'm working on it. My personal method of writing is to handwrite everything in a journal (a Moleskine to be specific; yes, I'm a brand snob when it comes to journals) and then I type it all out on my computer. This is great because I can't always have my computer in front of me when I want to write something, so this way whenever I feel the urge, I can just reach into my purse and write to my heart's content. It's also a great way to eliminate having to go back over what you've written with a fine tooth comb after I'm done with the chapter; by the time I start typing, I already have a sense of what I want to eliminate, what mistakes I made, and what I want to add. I recommend this process to anyone, but as such there's a downside: it takes freakin' forever. It doesn't help that chapter five of RRDC is really, really, really long. I'm serious. I didn't think anything could surpass chapter three (which was 97 pages). Chapter five is already at 90 pages, and I don't even consider this chapter two-thirds of the way completed. What's a girl to do? Keep on truckin' and pray that people stop submitting reviews asking why I haven't updated in a year. Well, I am working hard at writing this motha but I'm also trying to get through my junior year at school while having SOME semblance of a social life. I really shouldn't complain, though. This story has been a lot of fun to write and the response to it along with the people reading it have been wonderful. Hearing people say how much they want the next chapter is really great to hear and both encouraging and discouraging.
In the future to avoid these long-ass waiting periods between chapters, I'm going to handle the next three chapters Lord of the Rings style. Because the sequence of events that occur within the next few chappies take place so close together, I'm just going to write all three of them before I post any of them. I have no idea when they will all be finished, but at least, the story will be updated faster.
